<p>The Journal of Vocational Research and Practice (JVRP) (ISSN 2977-7275) is an independent, interdisciplinary online journal providing the opportunity for work-based learners including apprentices, degree / master's students, and those undertaking Ofqual regulated qualifications, to showcase projects which have yielded signficant organisational, industrial, social, or environmental impact. Hosted by University of Staffordshire, JVRP accepts submissions by work-based learners of any provider type, e.g., universities, colleges, independent training providers, and employer providers. We offer the following submission routes:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Research article (5,000 - 10,000 words)</strong> - encompasses a wide scope including work-based project reports, literature reviews, and research papers. Must carry academic rigour and subject to double-blind peer review.</li> <li><strong>Poster presentation (10 minutes)</strong> - an informative poster with accompanying MP3 audio narration as an alternative format to the above. Not subject to peer review but screened by the editorial board.</li> <li><strong>Account of practice / reflection (1,000 - 2,500 words)</strong> - a short narrative reflecting on or showcasing a piece of innovative practice or interim (work in progress) findings. Not subject to peer review but screened by the editorial board.</li> <li><strong>Hackathon / special issue article (1,000 - 2,500 words)</strong> - a short response to a specific theme or topic curated by guest editors to encourage innovative thinking. <p><strong>Official Launch Announcement</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Details</strong></p> <p>Journal of Vocational Research and Practice (JVRP)</p> <p>Launch Date: 01 June 2025</p> <p>ISSN: 2977-7275</p> <p>We are pleased to announce the forthcoming launch of the Journal of Vocational Research and Practice (JVRP), a new multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to showcasing the work of learners engaged in work-based education and training across all sectors.</p> <p>Whether you are an apprentice, undergraduate, postgraduate, or professional learner—based in a university, college, or independent training provider—JVRP provides an inclusive platform for the dissemination of impactful research, practical insights, and reflective learning.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Submission formats</strong></p> <p>JVRP accepts submissions in a range of accessible and innovative formats, including:</p> <ul> <li>Research Articles (5,000–10,000 words)</li> <li>Accounts of Practice / Reflections (1,000–2,500 words)</li> <li>Narrated Poster Presentations (10-minute visual/audio presentations)</li> </ul> <p>These formats are designed to support diverse modes of scholarly expression, especially from those in applied or practice-based settings.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Hackathon special issues</strong></p> <p>JVRP will also feature Hackathon Special Issues—collaborative calls for short, creative submissions (1,000–2,500 words) on focused themes curated by our editorial team or invited guest editors. These special issues aim to provoke innovative thinking and encourage timely, practical responses to real-world challenges.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>What to expect on Launch Day – 01 June 2025</strong></p> <p>Our inaugural editorial issue will showcase a curated selection of articles from our editorial board. This issue will not only demonstrate the scope and tone of the journal but also provide practical guidance on conducting and presenting work-based research.
