Journal of Vocational Research and Practice (JVRP)

Launch Date: 01 June 2025

ISSN: 2977-7275

We are pleased to announce the forthcoming launch of the Journal of Vocational Research and Practice (JVRP), a new multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to showcasing the work of learners engaged in work-based education and training across all sectors.

Whether you are an apprentice, undergraduate, postgraduate, or professional learner—based in a university, college, or independent training provider—JVRP provides an inclusive platform for the dissemination of impactful research, practical insights, and reflective learning.

Submission formats

JVRP accepts submissions in a range of accessible and innovative formats, including:

  • Research Articles (5,000–10,000 words)
  • Accounts of Practice / Reflections (1,000–2,500 words)
  • Narrated Poster Presentations (10-minute visual/audio presentations)

These formats are designed to support diverse modes of scholarly expression, especially from those in applied or practice-based settings.

Hackathon special issues

JVRP will also feature Hackathon Special Issues—collaborative calls for short, creative submissions (1,000–2,500 words) on focused themes curated by our editorial team or invited guest editors. These special issues aim to provoke innovative thinking and encourage timely, practical responses to real-world challenges.

What to expect on Launch Day – 01 June 2025

Our inaugural editorial issue will showcase a curated selection of articles from our editorial board. This issue will not only demonstrate the scope and tone of the journal but also provide practical guidance on conducting and presenting work-based research. Think of it as a research dissemination toolkit for vocational learners.

On launch day, we will also be announcing our first Hackathon Special Issue and opening the journal for general submissions.

We invite all work-based learners and practitioners to explore the journal, contribute to its development, and engage with a growing community of vocational researchers.
